Understanding the difference between Android and iPhone

You’ve heard the argument from the iPhone addict and you’ve heard the argument from the  Android junkie. So what is the difference between Android and iPhone?

Apple iPhones have taken the world by storm. Then Android took the world by storm. There are critics and lovers of each, so it’s important to understand the difference between the two, especially when it comes to choosing a phone.

The first thing to remember is that Android, a type of operating system, is used by a variety of manufacturers. There are many different types of Android out there from Samsung Galaxy phones to Motorola Droids. Apple iPhones are all Apple products, so they are very much the same.

The fact that iPhones are all Apple products is what makes it different to Android phones in other ways. The only features available on iPhones are what Apple offer, while users of Android have many options through Google Play. iPhone users, for example, can not use any other apps than the ones found on the iStore. If an Android user wants an app that is not found on Google Play, it is still possible for the user to download it from elsewhere and install it. There is a wide offering by iStore so this doesn’t serve to much of a prohibition, but it can be problematic when the user wants to run something like Adobe Flash on their phone or even their tablet.

The fact that you can use your Android phone to download a variety of apps from Google Play means that the user has a lot more diversity when it comes to what interfaces. Android has options like Shell SPB 3D and different wallpapers and widgets, meaning that they can control the style and look and of their phone. iPhones have a limited choice when it comes to the design, however Apple prides themselves on ensuring that their designs are of a very high quality so if you’re a fan of it, then this shouldn’t present too much of a problem. The plus side is that iPhone is said to be far more straightforward and simple in terms of interface. This makes it easier to navigate.

The upside to the restrictions to Apple products is that the iPhones are less susceptible to security threats. With Android free to roam and download anything, there can sometimes be issues like viruses or bugs. It is crucial for users of all phones to ensure they have anti-virus protection and security firewalls on their devices.

A lot of phone users enjoy Android devices because they have a wider screen, making it more convenient when it comes to using the phone and reading content. However while iPhones generally have smaller screens, they often have better display quality with a higher LCD resolution. Thus it simply comes down to preference when it comes to screen size and quality, depending entirely on what the user enjoys more.

There are several more features and factors that are debated when it comes to iPhone and Android, including battery life and camera quality however these are based on a user’s experience. It comes down to what you as an individual prefer with both Android and iPhone providing world class devices to users.
