Take a new look at the world with Photosynth!
Photosynth is brought to you by Microsoft, and this free app harnesses some impressive technology that allows you to create interactive panoramic pictures. It is easy to use, surprisingly effective and, most importantly, free!
With Photosynth, you are able to transform your iOS device into a three-dimensional picture taker. The concept is simple, hold up your device and tap once to start the process. Slowly move your device up, down, left or right and the app will snap pictures as it reaches the edge of the one it has just taking. If you do it slowly the effect is great! You have to wait a few moments for the app to ‘stitch’ the images together, but it doesn’t take too long. The Result? You have a 3D view of the spot you are standing in, a lot like the effect achieved by Google Maps street view.
You can share your synthesized photos via Facebook, Twitter, Bing Maps, photosynth.net or e-mail. If you have Windows Live ID you can sign in and post your interactive panorama to Bing Maps, and it then becomes publicly viewable and can be found by anyone.
This little was a great find and perfect for almost any user who takes photographs. It has the potential for a wide variety of personal and business uses such as taking images of a house you want to sell or rent, sharing a beautiful sunset in all its glory or showing off your latest vacation spot!
