Notability is an app designed to help you take notes and capture ideas when you’re at work, school or anywhere on the go.

This app enables you to take notes in a variety of formats. While you can choose the standard typing options, you can also add in audio clips and use the handwriting feature to write and insert hand drawn images. You’re also able to insert web clips, figures and photos.

When you’ve written your notes you can export them via e-mail, iTunes, DropBox, WebDAV and iCloud. Don’t worry about compatibility issues as you can choose to format your notes as PDF, RTF or in the apps notes format. When you e-mail the notes your e-mail opens in the app so there’s no need to switch between programs.

Notability has a lot of customizable features. You can choose from one of three themes that suit your personal style. You can also set default paper style by choosing both the paper and line type, and the default handwriting style by pen size, shape and colour. The fonts for the body, captions and title are also customizable by font type, size, style and colour. These features are great for allowing you the most productive work space that suits your needs.

If you take a lot of notes then you’ll love the search functions that help you find a note by its title or search for text within a note. The auto sync is great for ensuring that you never lose your notes as it can back them up to iDisk, Dropbox and WebDAV.

I enjoyed using this app. The customizable features help you to create a comfortable writing atmosphere. When you’re writing by hand, the app is responsive and the zoom in feature helps you to get fine details into your notes. As this app was on sale for $0.99, you really do get value for your money. But even at the full price I would recommend that users buy this app as it’s versatile and functional.
