Not long to wait for new Samsung Galaxy Note

Samsung has announced that they will be launching the brand new Galaxy Note 2 on 19 August.

The world will only have to wait until the end of the month to see the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in action. It is set to be released during the IFA 2012 tech conference that will take place in Berlin on 29 August. Speculation suggests that this launch will occur just two weeks shy of the possible release of Apple’s new iPhone.

The IFA conference is probably the best time to launch the Galaxy Note too, as one of the biggest consumer-electronics and home-appliance trade shows. It involves three days of viewing the latest developments from the technology world.

In a statement released to Reuters, a Samsung spokesperson said, “”We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29.” This further adds to Samsung and Apple’s continuous neck-in-neck competition after Samsung overtook Apple in 2011 in the smart phone sector. According to Reuters, Samsung is estimated to have increased smart phone shipments to 50.5 million in the April to June quarter of 2012, nearly double the 26 million iPhones sold.

Samsung has already been ahead of the game this year with the release of the Galaxy S III in May.

Apple, on the other hand, could use a debut. Reuters reports that Apple shipments in the June quarter dropped 26% from the previous quarter “as the European economy sagged and consumers held off on buying ahead of the release of the iPhone 5”.

With the two developers in court this week in a bitter suing and countersuing case, it will be interesting to see what sales figures look like next year. In the mean time, we can’t wait to see what the Galaxy Note 2 looks like amid the speculations.
