How to be entertained by your Android

You’ve set up your Android smart phone, downloaded a whole lot of apps from Google Play, but now what?

The Google Play market is vast with tons of apps available, especially in the form of entertainment and games. But it can be difficult to know where to begin, which is why Two Fruits One Robot gives you a break down of some of the most popular and trending apps on the market, so you always know how to make the most of entertainment on your Android.

The greatest thing about Google Play is that you can navigate the good apps from the bad apps pretty quickly due to categories like Staff Picks, Editor’s Picks, Top Grossing, Top Paid, Top Free and Trending pretty quickly. If you’re unsure of how to navigate Google Play, we give you a complete how-to guide here. However there are still a lot to choose from, even when it’s broken down into these categories which can make it difficult to know where to start.

There are some games that you simply have to check out when starting out on Android. Where’s My Water is one of the top paid apps on the market at the moment and has been on top for some time. The appeal? Named Game of the Year by both Pocket Gamer and Phonearena.com, this puzzle game is highly addictive. With beautiful graphics and over 350 puzzles to keep you challenged, you’ll never grow tired of Cranky and Swampy, the delightful characters. For only R8.05, this one is a must.

If you haven’t heard of Cut the Rope, then you have been missing out on the gaming world. Available for R7.87 on Google Play, this game has taken the gaming world by storm. A simple game where you have to cut ropes to release candy into Om Nom, the little monster’s mouth, you’ll be surprised at just how entertaining such a game can be.

Some of the best selling apps on the market hint at just how popular they are. One of these is Angry Birds Space Premium.
A follow-on from the standard Angry Birds app, it’s available for download for R8.05 with 60 levels and a lot of challenges in the galaxy to contend against.

Draw Something has been another hit on the Android market, where things are drawn and the user guesses what it is. This game can keep you guessing for hours and is highly recommended on long trips.

There are tons of other games to browse through on Google Play, which can keep you highly entertained. Another top example is Fruit Ninja, available for R9.94. The object is simply to swipe and destroy fruit and includes fantastic graphics with awesome displays of fruit splashing across your screen.

You don’t just have to be into gaming to enjoy entertainment on your Android smart phone, however. One of the top grossing apps, for example, is a personal favourite of mine called SPB Shell 3D. This is an amazing wallpaper and interface app that will change your whole Android smart phone into a 3D wonderland. It’s quite costly at R121.52 a download, but if aesthetics are your thing, it is totally worth it.

There are also some fantastic local apps on the market like Kick Off Cover Star, that will leave you highly entertained. Samsung have introduced a wide variety of local apps onto their app market, which can also be a great platform to check out.

You can be entertained for hours with your Android, you just have to know how. Make sure that you check out some of the top apps on the market and download them to enter a whole new world of fun.
