Google’s Nexus 7 ads trump Apple’s

Android just can’t lose at the moment as it is announced that Google’s Nexus 7 adverts are trumping Apple’s.

Unfortunately in South Africa, we aren’t privy to all of the latest adverts when it comes to smart phones and tablets, but that is why we love the internet. Below you can see Google’s latest advert for the Nexus 7 – a delightful, sentimental piece where a father and son use their Nexus 7 during a camping trip for all sorts of things like reading up on a species of frog, as a compass, to play chess and for bedtime stories. The father even uses the tablet to play a funny little trick on his son, displaying dinosaurs on the screen so that when the son looks through his binoculars, he thinks there are dinosaurs in the wilderness.

The release of the advert comes at the same time as Apple’s adverts, showing a genius who helps people work out how to use their Macs during a crisis. There have been several versions of this advert to coincide with celebrations like May Day and Labour Day. You can see them below.

The adverts are very different, but analytics company Ace Metrix, which specializes in advertising has announced this week that Google’s advert trumped Apple’s ads in their study. Based on an ‘effectiveness scale’, the company have released data that shows the Nexus 7 advert achieved a result of 662 out of 950. Only one of Apple’s adverts out of all of the Genius ads scored in the upper half of the scale.

It seems that Android is on a roll at the moment, just that much more ahead of Apple. With the pending court case between Apple and Samsung as well as the release this month of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, we are interested to see how this competition plays out.
