Finding fun in the Blackberry App World
Generally thought of as a primarily business phone Blackberry doesn’t inspire thoughts of games, and fun is not the word most people think of when picturing the Blackberry Smartphone. However you couldn’t be further from the truth. More and more brilliantly fun apps and games are creeping into the Blackberry App World and we are over the moon to have some awesome apps to help waste time when waiting or just to keep our minds busy.
Alice for Blackberry is one such app (R6.00 from App World). If you watched Wall-E, Alice is Eve’s twin sister, who uses AI to chat to you. Once installed, Alice remembers her conversations with you, and refers back to them. Alice is a great app if you’re an insomniac, because she never sleeps or if you just need to get something off your chest.
Haunted Sights (R33.31) is another good download, especially if you are a fan over the paranormal. This app gives you real haunted, paranormal and mysterious sites for ghost hunters. Whether you are a ghost hunting professional, avid fan, novice or just curious, you will not be disappointed. Haunted Sights is the most complete and comprehensive paranormal guide to a huge array of ghostly and mysterious sites, including hotels, bars, restaurants, cemeteries, historical places, parks and other spooky areas. You can search it with either GPS or with a postal code and it will give you the top 20 “hotspots” in the area.
For the pranksters out there Blackberry App World now offers Moron Finder (R6.00) to keep you amply amused. Working much like a metal detector the app will beep faster (with the aid of you pressing the spacebar) when in the presence of stupidity. There is another option to scan a picture and point out the moron. Both options are loads of fun and great to silence the big mouth know it all in the group.
Alternatively you can get the last laugh on that one friend that we all have that likes to fiddle with your phone. Oops I dropped your Phone (R12.00 from App World) works on a timer, and once triggered simulates a large crack in your screen, complete with, vibration, sound effects and the phone locking up. Good for a lot of laughs and sure to cure your friend of his compulsion to touch your phone.
Blackberry is slowly catching up with its fun games and apps and we hope going forward to see more of these kinds of apps
