DocScan HD – Document Scanner is a useful app that will help you to transform your hard copy documents into scanned images.

This app works on the same principle as a scanner. It takes a picture of your document and allows you to send them on to other people. This is great for when there’s no scanner nearby or no computer that you can connect to. However, this app does more than just snap a photo of your documents.

With DocScan you can adjust the width and height aspect ratio and rotate the image. You can also adjust the photo alignment and correct images that do not fill the frame properly. The app will automatically detect the edges of the document and will provide ‘points’ that you can move to adjust the selection. When making corrections on your scanned document you can use the Pen feature to draw or write any comments before you save it. Images can also be imported from your Camera Roll.

Once you have scanned the pages of your document you can send it via e-mail as a PDF or as a series of zipped JPEG’s. You can also upload the document to Google Docs or send it to other apps on your device that use the PDF file format. This is a particularly nice feature because if you have a PDF editor you can do some fine tuning and insert notes before you send it on.

As this is a free version of the app you would expect adverts, but there’s no advertising and all the features are accessible. However, there are some limitations. You can only store six documents and have three pages per document. You can upgrade to DocuScan HD Pro for $ 3.99 if you’d like no limitations on the number of pages you can scan.

If you find yourself wishing that you could snap a picture of a page of a document or book and send it on to someone without the hassle of cables and file transfers, the this app is right for you. Upgrading to the Pro version could be useful, but the limitations can be avoided by exporting your documents to other apps. I recommend this freebie as it makes a great tool for business and studies!
