CamCard bussiness card scanner, making organizing easier

Tired of all those business cards filling up your wallet? Business cards are one of the most important networking tools, but just like the Rolerdex business cards seems a waste.  Described as a ‘Professional Business Card Reader’, this is an app for anyone who is in the working world. Rather than trying to keep track of business cards and contact details, CamCard will record information off all of your business cards and keep the data safely stored in one, accessible place.

CamCard is a ridiculously easy app to use. When you get a new business card from a colleague or contact, simply take a photograph of the business card. The app will save this information in Card Holder, which can be found in the address book on your Android smart phone. What amazed me was how clear the picture and focus was and how it immediately picked up the name and contact details off the cards.

There are also a variety of other options when it comes to managing your business card contacts once they have been saved. You can save relevant contacts into your phone book on your Android smart phone for easy access. You can also save relevant contacts on your email account like Gmail or Exchange so that emailing is quick and easy, without having to search through all of your business card contacts. If your contact already exists on your phone, simply add the extra information from the business card rather than creating a whole new contact.

The great thing about this app is that you can download the CamCard Lite for free as a trial run before you decide to buy the full app. It’s unnecessary though as the apps is both functional and easy-to use – there is no reason why you wouldn’t want the full version.

My favourite function of CamCard, which shows the developers tried to think of everything, is how easy it is to transfer business card information. Simply email it, SMS it or use a QR Code or else use Excel or VCF to export contact information. The app is also linked to LinkedIn where you can invite people to join your network straight from their business card information. This is incrediably handy in today’s working world and completely simplifies the process. These options are also so simple to use and easy to find, so no matter how tech unsavvy you are, you can navigate this app.

The Card Holder on your Android smart phone works like a dream too, keeping your contact information secure and protected with a password. It also links your contact information to maps for address location as well as easy phone calls and SMS contact. I couldn’t believe how accurate the map worked, locating the exact where about of the business address on the card. Card Holder will also link your contact to any web related searches with regards to the business. It also stores information like when your contact’s birthday is or that you need to call them. You can also make notes about your contacts that stays linked to their cards and choose a relevant image for your contact.

There is also a variety of choice when it comes to the layout of the app where you can choose the type of templates that you want for your business cards. You can choose different templates for each contact’s card if you’re feeling creative too.

I found this app worked very accurately, which is not always the case when it comes to scanning images. I would give it a 5 star rating because it is an app that has been designed to focus on its functionality, which it does with great precision. And have I mentioned that it has been created to recognise 16 different languages? CamCard is a very useful app and highly functional.
