Battle it out with Strikefleet Omega

Entertain yourself for hours as the Admiral of Strikefleet Omega.

Strikefleet Omega, a free game developed by 6waves, is designed to keep you on your toes as you join the Armada. It’s all about survival as you enter a fantasy world where your mission is to stop the Hive Queen before she destroys everything.

As you start the game, you’ll find yourself in an app world designed to look like space as your space ship travels through the galaxy. You’ll be told that the Armada is under attack with all of the other strikefleets having been wiped out. Strikefleet Omega is the last defender left and you are the Admiral who needs to control the game to victory.

The game is challenging however, as you come under come under attack from all sorts of creatures, sent by the Hive Queen. You’ll have to fire artillery and fight back to ensure that you don’t end up destroyed too.

The game is very simple to play, where the developers have ensured that you are instructed and given tips throughout the game. You simply tap the screen to fire shots at the enemy so you don’t need much skill to play this game. You also control all of your squadrons with the drag of your finger across to the screen, which is also very easy. You do however have to be quite quick and strategic when it comes to destroying the Queen’s brood as there are many of them coming from every direction. If you don’t get to them quick enough, they will annihilate your team!

The aim of the game is also to obtain precious crystals, which will be vital as you get to later stages of the game. Learn how to use your bomb carriers, your particle projection gunships, your advanced mining ships, among others.

A great feature of this app is the fact that your team talks to you all the time, giving you tips and hints about the game. This is much more effective than getting instructions from an invisible source and keeps up the storyline of the game, making it very entertaining. You’ll also receive scores as you go along, which will help you to keep track of your progress at all times.

The graphics are effective with well-done space imagery, however the developers could perhaps have gone a little further with this by adding a bit more detail. It works well though and runs very smoothly.

The only downside to this app is that as you want to progress or do better, you have to start laying down some cash to get to the next level or purchase things like a virtual spaceship. This is a bit disappointing because as you get further in the game, you realize you’ve become hooked and then have to pay to continue. It is a clever marketing tool by the developers, but some users would rather just pay a small price to download the app, rather than getting to a point in the game where you cannot go any further without paying.

I would give this app a 3-star rating and recommend it to anyone who isn’t bothered with paying for an app as it progresses. It’s an entertaining space battle and one worth giving a try. Download it here.
