Apple’s new store bigger and better

Apple’s iStore just got a whole lot more interesting.

It is interesting to note the trends in the technology world. A week or so after Microsoft announced that they would be opening more retail stores across North America, Apple has announced design plans for a prototype store that is set to blow the technology retail industry out of the water.

The building is already under construction and, according to Macworld, will be based in San Francisco with “incrediable Internet bandwidth capabilities”.

The site reports, “The new prototype store would be capable of streaming large amounts of data to devices within the store, and it is rumoured that this is being used to test and develop an environment to demonstrate large amounts of devices streaming high definition video. This would make it ideal for demonstrating large amounts of Apple television sets.”

It seems Apple are hell bent on trumping the other moguls in the technology game, aiming to showcase their products bigger and better than any of their competitors.

What’s more is that the prototype is being built near the Palo Alto Internet Exchange (PAIX), based in Silicon Valley. With PAIX reported to be one of the most powerful internet access points available, competitors may have a hard time beating Apple this time. The building is set to be over 1500 sqm and two storeys high, taking on the same design as the current Apple retail stores.

VentureBeats reports that Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the architectural firm that has been involved in global Apple stores have submitted the architectural review for the site, which means we can look forward to the same sleek environment that we’ve come to expect from an iStore. There is also no doubt that it will include some smart technology and exciting, cutting edge design.

Competitors will have to up their game to stay ahead of Apple as we near the end of 2012, where it seems they are always one step in front of the others. With a building such as this one set to open, one thing is certain: we can expect big things to come from Apple over the next while.

One of these things is Apple television, which combines internet streaming content with live television programming. We’ve already seen how internet radio can be utilized in South Africa with major role players like 2OceansVibe.com, so it will be fascinating to see what comes of this concept.

If you ever find yourself visiting the States, San Francisco might be the place to check out if you’re into Apple technology.
